Aufgrund einiger Anfragen, wie ich es mir denn leisten kann auf die Malediven zu gehen, werde ich hier etwas ausführlicher beschreiben, wie ich das Ganze für bezahlbares Geld gemacht habe! Vielleicht nimmt sich ja der ein oder andere zu Herzen dort mal hin zu gehen: eins vornweg, es lohnt sich total!!!
Die Malediven für wenig Geld? Ist das denn überhaupt möglich? Die Antwort lautet: JA! Man muss nur wissen wie, und ich versuche hier das Ganze etwas zu beschreiben für alle, die bezahlbar ins Paradies wollen wie ich!!! Die Hauptstadt Male kann man getrost hinter sich lassen, denn hier gibt es nicht viel zu sehen. Mein Flieger ist recht spät gelandet, heißt ich war gezwungen, dass ich dort eine Nacht verbringe. Ich habe mir aber Hulhulmale ausgesucht, denn da kommt man direkt vom Flughafen mit dem Airport-Shuttle-Bus hin, der nahezu geschenkt ist. Erst seit 2009 ist das Land für individuell Reisende überhaupt offen, vorher musste man sich in ein teures Inselresort einmieten, um überhaupt ins Land zu gelangen! Seit der Öffnung aber ist es Einheimischen erlaubt, auf den sogenannten Einheimischen-Inseln, Guesthouses zu eröffnen. Genau auf diesen Inseln kann man sich dann auch aufhalten und bezahlbar übernachten.
Erwähnt werden sollte, dass man für die Einreise eine Buchung in einem Hotel, sowie auch ein Rückflugticket benötigt. Das Rückflugticket wird offiziell bei den meisten Ländern benötigt, man wird jedoch fast nie danach gefragt, nicht so auf den Malediven! Heißt, um auf Nummer Sicher zu gehen, vorab einen Flug raus aus dem Land buchen und zumindest eine Nacht in einem Hotel. Ich wurde bei Einreise gefragt, wo ich denn nach meiner ersten Nacht schlafen werde, und hab dann nur ein Hotel auf Maafushi genannt, deshalb sollte man zumindest noch ein oder zwei weiterführende Hotels parat haben für den Fall das man gefragt wird!
Maafushi und Umgebung (01.06.2015 – 07.06.2015)
Die erste Woche habe ich mich nur um Maafushi aufgehalten, da man von dort viel unternehmen kann!
Nach einer Nacht in einem Hotel in Hulhulmale, die nicht besonders günstig war (knapp 50 Dollar incl. Frühstück), wurde früh morgens der Bus und dann eine Local-Fähre zur Insel Maafushi genommen. Reist man auf den Malediven mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln (hier naheliegend, dass es sich um Fähren handelt), kann man sehr günstig von Insel zu Insel gelangen. Eine zweistündige Fahrt kostet hier nur ca. 2 Dollar, um mal einen kleinen Geschmack für die Preise zu bekommen. Auf Maafushi wurde dann im Venturo Guesthouse für 31 Dollar (inclusive aller Steuern, Gebühren und Frühstück) eingecheckt! In Maafushi habe ich mich dann tatsächlich mit einem alten Bekannten wieder getroffen, dem Ian… verdammte kleine Welt! :)
Zunächst hatten wir mit dem Wetter nicht so viel Glück und es war bewölkt und hat viel geregnet. Bei unserem Schnorchelausflug, der für den zweiten Tag angesagt war, war uns das aber ziemlich egal, denn man wird ja eh nass! Über das Venturo Guesthouse werden Tagesausflüge für 50 Dollar (incl. Mittags-Buffet) angeboten und es werden 6 verschiedene Spots angefahren! Nicht schlecht für diesen Preis! 50 Dollar sind jetzt zwar kein Schnäppchen, aber wir sind hier immerhin auf den Malediven und nicht in Thailand! Das Schnorcheln war – um es auf den Punkt zu bringen – einfach unglaublich! Ich habe auf meiner großen Reise viel gesehen, aber das Schnorcheln hier war wohl das Beste, das ich bisher erlebt habe! Was für ein toller Tag!!! Macht Euch aber am besten selbst ein Bild!
Adaaran Island Resort (03.06.2015)
Wer kennt sich nicht, die berühmten Wasserbungalows der Malediven! Und wer hat noch nie davon geträumt, mal eine Nacht dort zu verbringen! Ich muss Euch leider enttäuschen, genächtigt wurde hier nicht, das hätte mein Budget dann doch deutlich überstiegen! Bei einem Übernachtungspreis im vierstelligen Bereich war mir das nicht möglich!
Die meisten schönen Inseln gehören jeweils dem Resort, das auf der Insel steht, heißt sie sind privat! Man kann also nicht einfach auf irgend eine kleine Insel hüpfen und den Tag dort verbringen! Einige Resorts erlauben Tagesgäste, die dann gegen eine Eintrittsgebühr den Tag auf der Insel und im Resort verbringen können. Mit 70 Dollar Eintritt für einen Tag kein Schnäppchen, aber es gehört einfach dazu und ich wollte mal sehen, wie die Reichen so Urlaub machen! Geboten bekommt man dafür aber dann doch einiges, so war komplette Verpflegung mit Buffet und auch allerlei alkoholische Getränke mit im Preis inbegriffen (zur Info: in den Malediven gibt es keinen Alkohol und dieser ist sogar illegal: bei Einfuhr am Flughafen wird es gleichermaßen wie Drogen geahndet - Alkohol ist nur in den Resorts zu bekommen). Um unsere 70 Dollar ordentlich zu nutzen, haben wir uns dann natürlich ordentlich den Bauch bei einem sagenhaften Buffet vollgeschlagen und dann das ein oder andere Bier genehmigt! Unterm Strich ein toller Tag und einfach mal ein Erlebnis! Hier gibt´s ein paar Bilder!
Gulhi (04.06.2015)
Ebenfalls von Maafushi aus kann man mit der Fähre für quasi ein Trinkgeld auf die Nachbarinsel Gulhi fahren, und dort den Tag verbringen! Leider hat dort das Wetter nicht so ganz mitgespielt, und es war den ganzen Tag bewölkt und hat viel geregnet. Dennoch hat der Strand dort unglaublich ausgesehen, und das trotz Regen! Alles was man für eine tolle Farbe des Wassers braucht, ist normalerweise Sonnenlicht! So einen Strand bei schlechtem Wetter habe ich aber noch nie gesehen, es wäre sehr interessant, wie dieser denn bei gutem Wetter so aussieht! Bilder gibt´s nur ein paar wenige!
Guraidhoo (05.06.2015 – 06.06.2015)
Für eine Nacht ging es dann nach Guraidhoo, ebenfalls eine kleine Nachbarinsel von Maafushi, die auch mit einer Local-Fähre erreicht werden kann. Es war ganz nett, aber ein Tagesausflug hätte es auch getan! Zudem sind mir beim Schwimmen plötzlich zwei äußerst giftige Wasserschlangen begegnet und ich war ziemlich schnell wieder aus dem Wasser draußen! Einmal um die Insel rum bin ich aber dennoch, hierzu ein paar Bilder!
Maafushi (06.06.2015)
Bevor es dann weiter Richtung Süden im Atoll ging, habe ich noch einen super Tag am Strand von Maafushi verbracht. Wie schon erwähnt, ist alles was man für einen tollen Strand braucht, Sonnenschein! Da dieser endlich mal den ganzen Tag über gegeben war, brachte auch der Strand von Maafushi seine volle Schönheit zu Tage: einfach unglaublich, aber überzeugt Euch selbst, und schaut die Bilder an! Vom sagenhaften Sonnenuntergang gibt´s hier ein kleines Video!
Fulidhoo (07.06.2015 – 08.06.2015)
Wie sagt man so schön: das Beste kommt zum Schluss! Und siehe da, es gab tatsächlich noch eine Steigerung… Mit der Fähre ging es weiter Richtung Süden auf die winzig kleine Insel Fulidhoo, und was mich hier erwartet hat, ist in Worte kaum zu fassen! Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass es solch schöne Orte auf dieser Welt gibt… Genächtigt wurde im La Perla Guesthouse für 47$ die Nacht (incl. Frühstück und aller Gebühren), was nicht sonderlich billig ist, aber dafür war das Zimmer absolute klasse! Zu den Stränden auf Fulidhoo braucht man nicht viel sagen, sondern einfach schauen! Ich kann nur eines sagen, hier hab ich mein kleines Juwel auf Erden endlich gefunden! Meiner Meinung nach kann es keine Steigerung mehr geben… Ich hab auch kurze Videos von Sonnenauf- und Sonnenuntergang gemacht!
Vashugiri Island (09.06.2015)
Von Fulidhoo gab´s dann an meinem letzten Tag auf den Malediven noch einen Tagesausflug zur Insel Vashugiri Island, auch Picknick Island genannt. Zusammen mit Tadej und Natasha aus Slowenien konnte ich mir ein Boot teilen und es war uns möglich für einen Tag hier her zu kommen!
Zur Insel: der Wahnsinn!!!! Man braucht hier echt nicht viel schreiben, sondern einfach die Bilder ansehen! Nur zum Schnorcheln noch eine Anmerkung: erneut eine Steigerung! Einfach nicht zu glauben!!!!
Dann hieß es Abschied nehmen und ich musste zurück nach Male wo ich noch eine Nacht genächtigt habe da mein Flug früh morgens war… Fazit zu den Malediven: UNGLAUBLICH!!!! Und sowas von eine Reise wert! Wer die Malediven so bereist wie ich, kann es mit ca. 60 – 80 US$ am Tag schaffen, was nicht billig ist, aber ich sage mal für die Malediven nicht schlecht!! Wenn man zu zweit ist und sich ein Zimmer teilen kann, dann kommts natürlich noch weitaus billiger! Essen in Local Restaurants ist günstig und man ist bei 3 – 5 $ pro Essen!! Also, worauf wartest Du? Buch nen Flug!!! :)

The Maldives on small budget
Due to some request how it´s possible that I can afford going to the Maldives, I want to describe the way I did it.
Travelling in the Maldives on budget, is this possible? The answer is: YES! You just have to know how! The capital Male is nothing special and it´s actually good to leave straigth to use the time in more beautiful places. As my plane arrived late, I had to stay one night in Male, or in my case I stayed in Hululmale which is accessible by airport shuttle bus going from early in the morning till late! Before 2009 it was not possible to travel like this in the Maldives, it was only allowed to stay in one of the expensive resorts for hundreds of dollars per night! Since 2009 locals can open guesthouse on the so-called local islands, where I stayed during my trip.
To enter the Maldives, it´s mandatory to have a return ticket out of the country! Officially this is necessary in almost every country, but actually no one ever cares! But not in the Maldives, so be aware to have a return ticket before going through immigration. Second thing is, to have a hotel booking for at least one or two nights! In my case they saw my booking and noticed that it is only for one night, so they asked me where I´m going to stay afterwards. Luckily I made a little plan where to go and wrote down some guesthouses so I just told them some names of guesthouses on Maafushi island.
Maafushi and surroundings (01.06.2015 – 07.06.2015)
The first dasy I spent around an island calles Maafushi, because it´s a good gateway to do some daytrips, and you get cheap accommodation here.
After one night in Hululmale I took the local ferry to Maafushi, if you travel by public transport in the Maldives, it´s ovious that you go by ferrys. A two hour ferry ride costs about 2 US$, which is really cheap and in addition you get a ride through the island atoll which is really nice and beautiful! On Maafushi I stayed in Venturo Guesthouse (31 $/night including all taxes, service carges and breakfast). It´s hard to believe, who I met in Maafushi again… It was Ian! But this time we knew that we´re both in the Maldives so we met on purpose! :)
In the beginning, we were not that lucky with the weather and we had a lot of rain and it was mostly cloudy, what didn´t matter on our snorkeling trip, which we booked in Venturo Guesthouse for 50$ for a full day including lunch buffet (all you can eat). We went to 6 different spots and I think 50$ is a good deal, it´s not super cheap but this is not Thailand, it´s the Maldives! And back to topic: the snorkeling is otherworldly and just amazing! I did a lot of snokreling on my trip, but honestly this was maybe the best I´ve ever seen! But just have a look!
Adaaran Island Resort (03.06.2015)
Everybody knows them: the famous water bungalows in the Maldives! And i think everybody is dreaming of spending a night there. Unfortunately I have to disappoint you, I didn´t sleep here because that was just a little bit over my budget!
Most of the beautiful islands in the Maldives are private property of the resort on it, means also the islands and the beaches are private! So you can´t just jump onto an island and spend a day at the beach! Some resorts allow people to come as day guests for a fee. In our case we had to pay just as little as 70$ entrance… quite expensive, but all the food (buffet, snacks etc…. you can basically eat the whole day), which was incredible, was included. Also all the drinks, including alcoholic drinks were included (by the way: the Maldives are strict muslim and alcohol is prohibited and you can only get it in the resorts)! It was expensive but I just said “fuck it”, I do it because I´m probably here only once in my life! It was an amazing and fun day and interesting to see, how all the rich people make holidays… Here you go for some pictures!
Gulhi (04.06.2015)
Another island near Maafushi and accessible by local ferry in one day is called Gulhi! The ticket is so cheap that it´s basically for free and not even worth to mention it! Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad in Gulhi and it rained a lot during the day! But even in rain the beach looked pretty nice and the water had a great color, I´ve never seen a color of water like this on bad weather, usually you just need sunshine! I think if the sun is shining, this beach is just unbelievable and well worth a daytrip!!! There are only a few pictures!
Guraidhoo (05.06.2015 – 06.06.2015)
For one night I left Maafushi to go the the nearby located island Guraidhoo which afterwards is actually nonsense. The island is nice, but it´s enough to do it just by daytrip from Maafushi if you want to go there! When I was swimming, I suddenly saw two really venomous water snakes and I was running out of the water… Nevertheless, here are some pics!
Maafushi (06.06.2015)
Before heading further south, I spent an amazing day at Maafushi beach itself! As already mentioned, all you need for a nice colorful beach is sunlight, it was finally there, and even the whole day! As soon the sun was out, Maafushi beach showed all it´s beauty! But just have a look! There also is a short video of the sunset in Maafushi!
Fulidhoo (07.06.2015 – 08.06.2015)
Well… the best comes the last! Sometimes it´s really true! By local ferry I went further south to an island called Fulidhoo and what was waiting for me there is just hard to believe and there are no real words to describe this beauty… On Fulidhoo I stayed in La Perla Guesthouse for 47$ per night (incl. breakfast and all fees), which is not cheap, but to be honest: the room was amazing! Well and Fulidhoos beaches? There is not much to say, just look! There are also short videos of sunrise and sunset on Fulidhoo!
Vashugiri Island (09.06.2015)
On my last day in the Maldives there was another day trip to an nearby island called Vashugiri Island, or better Picknick Island! Together with Tadej and Natasha from Slovenia I could share a boat and it was possible for us to go to this tiny island for a day. Again, there actually is not much to say… just look! Well, there is something to say about the snorkeling! Even better than near Maafushi, and that straight from the beach!!!
Then I had to say goodbye to this pardise called the Maldives! My resume of the Maldives: INCREDIBLE!!! And well worth a trip! I made it with around 60 – 80 US$ per day, which is not cheap, but I would say not bad for the Maldives! If you can share a room, it ends up much cheaper! Food is quite cheap, if you go to local restaurants, you can eat for about 3 – 5 $! So what are you waiting for? Just book a flight!!! :)
